We can use a little of self-awareness to stay focused and focused on a project that is truly the work of the “boss”, and the focus should be on the project, not the skills, or the goals. I think it is important to think about what your priorities are before you begin to think about what they are. Think about what’s important to you, your priorities, and your goals.
The final goal, to get people to pay attention to what you’re doing or about what you’re doing… is to make sure you’re doing what you’re saying.
I like to think of myself as a very focused person. The fact is that I am not. I have a lot of “shoulds” and “should nots” in my life, and there is a lot of “shoulds” in my business. Business is not a competition. There is no competition here. There is no competition in the business world.
The thing is, we spend a lot of time thinking about what we should be doing. We think about the business that we should be running and the business that we should be starting. And if you do this too much then the business will be a lot like the business that you want to run. Your “priority” will take up a lot of of your time.
For those of us with a busy professional life, it’s not that we’re lazy, but we don’t think about the business that we are running. We don’t get to spend enough time thinking about what we need to do, because it’s way too difficult to prioritize. Instead, we think about the business that we are starting…and what we need to do.
We really want to start. But I think what you want to start is your company name and address. I think we still want to make sure the company name is spelled correctly or else someone will get to googling your company name after the fact.
